⚠️ Important placement conditions

Django requires an experienced home, with someone who has solid knowledge of canine behavior and education. Experience with reactive dogs or those with behavioral issues is strongly desired.

This criterion is essential for his placement. We therefore ask those who do not meet this profile not to submit an adoption application for Django.

Our priority is to find him a home that meets his needs, capable of accompanying him with patience, consistency, and kindness. 🐾

His story

Django, about 3 years old, arrived with us after being seized from his previous owner due to poor living conditions.

Django has had a difficult past and unfortunately did not live in conditions suitable for his needs. Upon arriving at the shelter, once he felt safe, he showed strong reactivity towards unknown people, which could escalate to aggression. At that time, placement was not feasible for safety reasons.

His progress

For nearly a year, Django has been receiving regular work with our team, a trainer, and a veterinary behaviorist. A significant desensitization effort has been implemented to help him better manage situations that may be challenging for him.

Django has since made enormous progress. Today, he is able to walk by people without reacting. When he feels uncomfortable, he knows how to distance himself and communicate that to us.

He has also become very attentive, has a good foundation in training, and learns quickly. He is a dog that enjoys work and learning.

As a safety measure, Django has learned to wear a muzzle. This is used during close encounters or when he is around unknown people.

His character

When he knows a person and trusts them, Django reveals a completely different side of his personality. He is a dog of great kindness, affectionate and very close to his human.

He is a real cuddle bug who enjoys moments of closeness and just wants to be pampered. He forms a very strong bond with the person who takes care of him and is particularly close to them.

When he feels safe, Django allows himself to be handled without difficulty.

Compatibility

* Dogs: OK with a balanced, non-aggressive, and non-dominant dog.

* Cats: OK.

* Children: given his behavioral history, we prefer a placement without children.

Work that must continue

Even though Django's progress is very positive, it is important to remain aware that his behavioral difficulties are still present.

The work that has been implemented must be continued rigorously and consistently. Nothing is guaranteed 100%, and an incident could lead to significant regression, even requiring a revisit of some of the work done over the past year.

His future adopter must therefore be able to understand his signals, anticipate risky situations, and continue the behavioral work that has been established.

We are looking for an experienced, professional person for Django, who is aware of his particularities and ready to invest in the long term, in order to provide him with a stable, secure, and suitable environment.
