During your absence, they will join one of our themed catteries: The Mountain, The Jungle, The Desert, The Savanna, and The Ocean. We also have individual boxes or rooms, depending on availability. Our small team of passionate and experienced volunteers traps stray cats to spay or neuter them to limit their proliferation and provide veterinary care if necessary.
In accordance with Articles 15 and 35 of the LALPA, the costs of taking care of found animals fall to the municipalities until their situation is resolved. In case of life-threatening emergencies, contact the nearest veterinarian directly.
Valais municipalities can establish a service contract with the official SPA Valais shelter to address animal-related issues in their territory.
Valais municipalities are responsible for addressing animal-related issues in their territory: lost dogs without identification, proliferation of stray cats, abuse of companion animals, etc. The cantonal law regarding animal protection allows each municipality to establish a service contract with the official SPA Valais shelter.
We provide temporary care for found, lost, or abandoned animals in collaboration with municipal and cantonal authorities.
Please contact us before coming with a found animal, in order to assess your case and direct you to the appropriate authority if necessary.
The Swiss Animal Protection (PSA) no longer has the funds to support pet owners in need facing exceptional veterinary expenses. However, there are dedicated foundations that provide assistance in various ways. Please contact us by email at elodie@spavalais.ch to obtain the list of foundations.
Basic costs such as vaccination, castration, high-level medicine and ordinary medications are excluded from financial contributions.
In case of a positive decision, the SPA will pay a maximum of 80% or CHF 2'000.– of the veterinary bill. There is no guarantee of coverage even if all documents have been submitted.
